We are going HDTV!!!
The SABC has announced that it is expecting the delivery of a new "High Definition TV" (HDTV) Outside Broadcasting vehicle by the end of this month. SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says the order of the multi-million rand 22 digital camera operating OB is the first of its kind on the continent. He says the overseas build high-tech vehicle will be followed by a similar locally manufactured facility early next year. Kganyago says a training process of staff to operate the HDTV will commence immediately after the arrival of the facility. He says the acquisition of the new digital facilities are in line with the government's digital broadcast migration programme targetting the 2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup. As Digital Migration strategy unfolds - the SABC will benefit from the 700-million rand budgeted by national government to improve broadcasting technology over the next seven years.
