Strap into your robot suit, and take a hike down to the shop and buy a coupla cases of cold drinks.

The sci-fi adolescent in me is gaping in wonder at this. It's a bionic suit designed to assist the elderly and infirm in walking and carrying heavy things. It's the HAL-5 Hybrid Assistive Limb. And we learned about it on Engadget. So don't blame us if it turns out to be some kind of hoax. (Even if it is, the technology is heading for this. And the first people to get real use out of such devices will probably be American soldiers.)
